How you apply from Mongolia

Mongolian students apply through the Embassy of China in Mongolia, which announces Mongolia's quota together with Mongolia's Ministry of Education (Боловсролын яам). You take the CSCA test, get a pre-admission letter from at least one Chinese university, then apply on campuschina.org as Type A with Agency Number 4961. The embassy checks your file, invites you by email to a written test and interview at the embassy in Ulaanbaatar, and recommends you to the China Scholarship Council (CSC); the university and CSC make the final decision.

Step by step

  1. Step 1 · Now, October 2026

    Choose your major and universities

Decide what you want to study, then make a short list of Chinese universities that teach it under the Chinese Government Scholarship. The university list is on campuschina.org, and when you apply as Type A the system only shows universities that can take you. Most scholarship bachelor's degrees are taught in Chinese, so check each university's Chinese level and the CSCA subjects for your major. Check your passport now: it must be valid for at least 12 months after your study start, so until September 2028 or later.

    You need

    • Valid passport (needed to register for CSCA too)

Tip: In the 2025/26 call the embassy gave priority to majors Mongolia needs most, such as IT, software engineering, mining, engineering, energy and agriculture. Check whether the 2027/28 call repeats this.
